Draft Guide: The Best Third Basemen

-
Alex Rodriguez – The future Hall-of-Famer had an off year on offense and defense and he is still ranked as #1 -
Miguel Cabrera – His offense is exploding and he is still very young. If his defense improves he will be compared with A Rod
-
David Wright – Smooth hitting stroke and solid play make Wright a top notch 3rd sacker
-
Scott Rolen – He is in the prime of his career and he has very few weaknesses
-
Freddy Sanchez – Freddy has make contact with the best of them and his defense is an asset also
-
Ryan Zimmerman – One year out of college and he is listed as one of the elite 3b in the game
-
Aramis Ramirez – His defense continues to improve and his offense has always been there
-
Garrett Atkins – Great hitting skills. A good power guy that can hit for average is in demand every year
-
Bill Hall – Hall tore the cover off the ball last year. He isn’t a 3b by trade but he can play there and you’d be a fool to sit him on the bench with the year he had last year
-
Mike Lowell – He continues to play solid ball for the Red Sox. Gold glove caliber defense and a potent stick get him into the top 10
-
Chipper Jones – Chipper is getting a bit closer to retirement but the guy can still hit. He most likely won’t ever shed the 4 on D but as long as his e rating stays low he is a great player to have at the hot corner
-
Eric Chavez – Chavez is playing stellar defense but we are still waiting on him to put his entire game together
-
Adrian Beltre – The 1 on defense keeps him in the top 15. He is still not very old and we know he can mash a ball when his head is on straight
-
Joe Crede – The only thing keeping Crede from being in the top 10 is his low OBP
-
Mark Teahan – Teahan had a breakout year for the Royals. Now that Gordon is at 3b Teahan has been moved around and his value has slipped a bit
-
Hank Blalock – Hank hasn’t continued to develop as many thought he would. He still has a great swing and is young enough to move up into the top 10
-
Troy Glaus – The power stroke is still there but the average and defense are starting to slip
-
Brandon Inge – Not flashy player but he is solid and won’t hurt your team
-
Morgan Ensberg – Ensberg’s walks kept his On Base Percentage high enough to make his batting average acceptable
-
Chone Figgins – His speed and versatility are the reason he cracks the top 20
